  2. IHT was never intended to effect ordinary people. It currently raises @ £7 billion a year but increasing year on year. A small tweaking of income tax would cover the loss of income and provide people with an incentive to leave as much as they could to their children.

  3. It also unfairly targets those who live in London and the South East where property prices are much higher. A person inheriting a nice house in the North may be able to keep it, whilst someone in the South will probably have to sell it to pay the IHT.

  4. Me too. If you are ever in the position of having to apply for Probate, doing it yourself has significant advantages over using a professional. Unlike a solicitor you aren't bound by codes of conduct and in your grief you can be a little forgetful !
