  1. Won't the insurance company go after the at fault party for your deductible? No idea how it works in the US, but I've had lots of numb-nuts without insurance crash into me over the years (I figure anyone stupid enough to be driving around without insurance is probably so dumb they shouldn't be driving, which explains why most of the time they are the ones who drive into you). Every time I've paid the deductible (we call it excess here) and every time the insurance company has bullied the at fault party into paying me back - sometimes it has taken a long time but at lest I got it back eventually.

  2. +Chance Dobbins Wow, that's crazy, I pay about $400 a year insurance on it for full cover including no deductible on glass claims - that's around 1 to 2% of the cars total value per year. It's actually gone up a bit as the car has gotten older and depreciated - no idea why.
