But the Plaid feels & looks like a $40K car, whereas the Sapphire feels & looks like maybe a $200K car...

@WhatisaLee Yeah I have no interest at all in the Plaid - it's a one trick pony, and it looks and feels like a budget car - it's in my price bracket, but I'd never consider it. The Sapphire is well out of my price range - but I want one because it oozes quality and it is exciting. I'll never have either of them though for different reasons.

@ChosenMJ No I've not been in a Plaid, but my neighbor has a S P100D and it feels cheap compared to the many other cars in the same price bracket I've owned or driven - also dynamically feels like the decade old platform that it is despite him only having bought it new maybe 2 years ago - as far as I am aware the Plaid is a little better, but not a whole lot - and has hard fails like the daft steering yolk, and the same aging platform underneath. The Sapphire I'm just basing on watching all the reviews where they rave about how high quality everything feels - but you'd hope so at quarter of a million dollars. It's just the way Teslas are - another neighbor just bought a model Y last year - the interior in that looks and feels like a car maybe half the price he paid for it. Of course you don't buy a Tesla for the luxury, because it's really not there - you buy it for many other reasons - the brand "cool" factor that is rapidly disintegrating as Musk goes ever more down in public opinion - the charging network - which is still a far better experience and usually cheaper than the alternatives, but that is changing slowly, and not such an issue if you are mostly charging at home - the underlying battery and drivetrain technology - which I'd argue has finally in the last year or two been met and even exceeded by other manufacturers, even in comparable or lower price brackets. IMO Tesla are in real trouble now, if they don't change the way they do things, they might not make another decade.

Acceleration aside, the other thing the Lucid Sapphire has over the Plaid is it is a genuine luxury car that looks & feels like it is worth the money - unlike the Tesla which feels a lot cheaper and more thrown together than it should at that price, and looks like the aging platform that it is.

Just a correction - Elon Musk didn't "make" Tesla, he was an early investor who then lied about being the founder & shat all over the real two men who founded the company - then continued to lie about "working so hard he was sleeping in the factory" to get them through when they were in danger of collapsing when in reality he was posting nonsense on Twitter the whole time and doing no work at all. The real work was of course, done by the real engineers and workers. He's a giant conman wanker and deserves no credit for anything but being probably the most giant conman wanker of our age.
