@s0meguy809 A quarter mile is still from a dig and therefore very much traction limited. Regardless the new ST does a mid 13 quarter, not a mid to low 14. It's a lot quicker than the old model as Ford needed to match the Civic Type R, it's main rival, which also does a mid 13. You might be thinking of the previous model ST I think? It was getting pretty long in the tooth. Looking at the roll stats, the ST is actually faster from 50kmh-100kmh than the Focus RS and quarters in around the same time despite being slower to 100kmh, it's that much faster through the gears. If you rolled a SRT4 vs a Focus ST from 30 to 100kmh there would be quite some distance between them - sorry, but that's just a fact - and it'd just wider from 100kmh on. Again, I'm not saying the SRT4 isn't a great car, it was very fast 15 years ago - just that technology has moved on as it always does, and it's really not fast compared to what you can get now in the same segment - turbo and electronic diff technology have come a long way in the last 15 years. Chuck in some winding roads and the Dodge would soon disappear from view.

@s0meguy809 From a dig from 0-60 sure, because they are all limited by FWD inherent traction issues - no production FWD is ever going to manage too much under 6 seconds to 100kmh on the street, it's just physics - but from a roll the current generation ST or GTI will chop the SRT4.

@Crusher5303 They moved along pretty well back in the day, and they can launch pretty well for a fwd - but they aren't going to keep up with an equivalent modern performance car.

@K20EF8 On drag radials, on a super sticky prepped track. On the street, on street legal tyres from a dig it's never going to do better than 5's 0-100kmh, which means it'll get destroyed by anything with semi-decent power and RWD or 4WD. Not saying that the dedicated drag car isn't impressive, just that it's not a street car and therefore not really relevant unless all you are looking at is quarter mile times - FWD is basically useless on the street from a dig because your traction is so limited - unless you are just racing a soccer mum in her Hyundai.

@SatanAzerath Mazda's making some very reliable vehicles now - many of their vehicles rank at or near the top of their class for reliability in a lot of recent surveys. I'm talking about Japanese built Mazdas though, not American ones if there is such a thing. My understanding is Mazda aren't highly rated in America, but here in New Zealand they are among the top sellers & always rate highly in reliability and customer satisfaction surveys - the Mazda 3 and 6 are two of the best selling cars, the MX5 is the best selling sports car, and the CX range are all well up in the list of top selling SUV's. The BT50 ute is usually in the top 3 sellers in its class too.

@namepassword2106 lol, yes Honda have, and continue to make epic bikes.

@bremc666 Honda aren't what they once were. I don't see any reason not to buy one new provided you have time to spend dropping it off at the service department to have issues fixed (possibly), but I'd recommend trading it in before the warranty expires - many, many newer model Hondas have had significant build and engineering quality issues in recent years. I don't know about the Civic by my mother in laws 2015 CR-V was really not good enough - she had multiple issues with the transmission being jerky and rough, the ICE had constant glitches, and trim pieces on the interior started coming off after only about a year. Compared to her previous 2010 Accord it was garbage. Still the service levels were decent, they never gave her any hassles getting things sorted out - but it's still lost time when if she'd bought the Mazda, Toyota or Hyundai equivalent, by all accounts chances are she'd have had far less issues. Then she went and bought a Nissan though, so maybe she just isn't worried about having to take cars to the dealership regularly!

@K20EF8 Absolutely, from a roll some of them are insane & the amount of boost people get through them on stock internals is nuts - I'd never besmirch the capability of some of Honda's legendary engines - just not a FWD fan personally.

@dustinjames1268 That's the only real problem with Honda's - the guys driving them who think they are the fastest things on the road & get butthurt when you point out that they aren't ever going to keep up with a 4 litre turbo charged 600hp 4wd for example - because physics.
