The systems: the sheer lack of preparation despite the 2016 major national emergency practical exercise and report recommendations, the overwrought official panic, the lack of support for vulnerable of all ages.... I completely endorse your assessment of how shocking it's all been, and your wish that it must never happen again.

@karlsinclair9918 Really, I should thank you for sharing honestly - you encouraged me to put my tuppenceworth up. It's usually my (always reasonable) posts that get zapped! So I've more or less given up commenting on such issues. Hopefully things are improving. I've read your posts here and I agree entirely with your perspectives. I believe we were all terrorised into going along with a flailing government's own on-the-fly reactions. (When there had been a solid and tested response plan for such an event constructed yet shelved by BJ et al. ) It seems to me that many people clung to gvt orders as children cling to parents in the face of scary stuff. It frightens some/many? of those people to have their their perspectives shaken, no matter how reasonably articulated any differing perspective might be. Now look at the mess we're in - on all levels. I was hoping for a Royal Commission of Inquiry into UK Covid handling so that we could learn form the mistakes. But we're in this deep hole now so that's going to take priority. And in 20/50/100yrs they'll repeat the same mistakes...we really do need to stop trying to create whizzy tech like AI and, instead, sort out our own malfunctioning human intelligence! LOL!
