@imo1751 Bullseye, Mo! I've been saying this for years, having worked with some key players. After 40-odd years of being told what to do, Parliament had lost its intellectual rigour, its responsible, competent leaders/statesmen/women who could make balanced decisions and stick to them and, like the undemocratic EU, its respect for constituency voters - that is citizens like you and me. That was all immediately proven by CallMeDave's hubris and complete failure to plan for all contingencies. It left us with an overwhelmed, incompetent parliament. It's been flailing around ever since.

It's rather hackneyed, but this is a classic case of 'Go woke, go broke'. That and our governments can't handle the power they have now - 40+ years of being EU lackeys?
