Thanks to the Syriac Catholics (Maronite Christians, in particular), Leban'nnn still has a fair amount of economic freedom but the politicians are unbelievably corrupt and the state employees are lazy. Additionally, you have a system of Muhammadan supremacy & sectarianism causing Maronites, Melkites and Aramaean Syriacs problems.
