  1. C'mon, though, several sellers offering the same item at prices that are a) clearly insane and b) within a few cents of each other? There's got to be some unintended automation consequences happening there, it doesn't make any sense otherwise.

I don't know precisely what's happening on the back end of it, but Amazon's pricing system for what they used to call "marketplace" sellers can occasionally go into these insane escalating death spirals. You'll sometimes see hard-to-source or out-of-print books or DVD sets priced at utterly ridiculous levels, thousands of dollars, and often three or four of them within a few cents of each other at the same absurd levels. It's got to be some kind of automatiion failure, there can't be that many deranged human vendors thinking that the second volume of Armored Fleet Dairugger XV or whatever is really worth upwards of $4,000.
