The question arises, did he destroyed any Christian or Islamic scriptures, icons or places of worship? He did not would be my guess. And there lies the lies of modern Indian "rationalist". But I think he did what he had to do. To free his religion, that is Hinduism, from the tyranny of the orthodox vedic priests. Temple, idol worship are not vedic practices. For example, they are not present in Mahabharat or Ramayana. It is clearly looked down upon by the vedic people and their scriptures. It is a tantric practice, not vedic. The vedic fireworshippers and their priests just occupied the temple once the natives were defeated in battles. Jaganath temple has a clear indication for that. The temple even today needs the services of a certain "untouchables" class to make the idol and do pran pratistha. The "untouchables" - meaning the defeated people - the excommunicated people - mainly the ruling and priestly class. History of indic civilization is quite convoluted and complex I guess. Just imagine - all SCs are the erstwhile rulers and priests - whose cultures, temples and philosophies were appropriated by the Victor from the North West.
