I'm tremendously more concerned about the end of individual freedom in America; not so concerned about the end to an American empire. As for gun control ... since the right to own weapons is supported by the 2nd amendment, maybe it would be better for everyone if the anti-gun people spent their money on schizophrenia research instead? Maybe try to help people who can become violent because of an illness, and in the process SAVE all of the people they would have hurt? No, of course liberals would never do that. Their whole goal is to put America under a dictatorship, and that's why they want to eliminate guns. Just like how the Jim Crow Democrats wanted to prevent blacks from owning guns, so they couldn't defend themselves from racial aggression.

@noelbrown6771 That sort of thing can be debated, but how about doing a better job of detecting this illness and either preventing it or treating it? They can use a car, a knife, or whatever to hurt people. The problem is clearly the mental illness, and we have had health drives before, to find a cure. Why can't we do it for this? The solution could be as simple as changing the treatment of chicken pox in children so they take vitamin D and zinc supplements, or something like that. It's a devastating disease, and barely know anything of value about it.

@SusanYeske701 They tend not to disclose the medical histories of patients, as that's private information. But that's the type of mental illness that you see in situations like this, in that it seems to affect more males than females, it tends to hit in the late teen years, and it can create a mental state of violent delusional superiority. Often the patient is a fairly smart young man. Those suffering from it can have violent outbreaks where family members are threatened and the police are called, and the police - not familiar with mental illness - may describe the words and behavior of the person as "pure evil." But if they are on the proper meds, or just not suffering an episode, they're generally functional. The problem is getting them onto the right meds and getting them to stick with the meds and not be using recreational drugs. So for those shooters who are young adult males whose mental state has been widely observed to be deteriorating for a year or two ... that's generally what this is. The Aurora theater shooter, the Gabby Giffords shooter, the Sandy Hook shooter, etc. are all of this type.
