There is an effect in the economy kind of like how traffic can bunch up and slow for no apparent reason. Price controls can fix this kind of thing. But that's not the only problem. The supply chain issues are real, in that diesel prices are going sky high due to scarcity, and far too much is being ordered from overseas for our port facilities to process. We literally need to produce more domestically, and get the Canadian pipelines going, because the Canadian oil is the type we use for diesel, and domestic production would relieve port congestion. It turns out you cannot infinitely spread out your supply chains across the globe. It leaves you vulnerable to fuel crashes and port limits. The solution is to produce more locally to ease shipping problems. Business will not solve this on their own, because each individual business is addicted to overseas labor. A task force of businessmen needs to be created to identify where production needs to be moved to the US, and I bet one of the answers is going to be with agriculture. The US imports way too much food.
