  1. You STILL go out of your way to make the Soviets sound way better than they really were. Stalin was involved in foreign wars, with the Spanish Civil War being partially a proxy war between Hitler on one side and Stalin on the other, with the goal of taking Spain. Hitler would have been unable to start WW2 without two key bits of assistance from Stalin: 1) Stalin allowed German troops to secretly form, train, and equip themselves on Russian land, because Germany was forbidden by treaty to do so. 2) Stalin sold Hitler the oil he needed for industrialization and the war effort. Stalin was planning to have Hitler fight the west, and then when everyone was exhausted, he'd roll through and take everything, including Germany. What spoiled the plan was that when the US entered the war, instead of joining the fight directly in Germany, Churchill persuaded US generals to fight in North Africa first, cutting off Hitler's secondary souces of oil. When this was accomplished, Hitler knew he was entirely at the mercy of the hated Russians, and THAT'S WHY he went the attack into the Soviet Union, specifically targeting the oil resources. He could not fight without the oil. This is why he threw everything he had at Russia, trying to secure the oil, and his failure was the cause for the end of the war. You also completely omitted the centuries long fight between the British Empire and Russian Empire, characterizing the Russian efforts as continual losses. Well, in recent times, who do you think freed India? That was India turning to communism and Russia, and away from Britain, with all the anti-colonial furor. And Stalin funded the rise of Mao in China, with the idea that Mao would fight the battles to gain China, and then be subservient to the Soviet Union. So, instead of losing, the Soviets won in India, won in China, and won in North Korea. The Soviets were also influential in Vietnam and Cuba, and are today influential in Venezuela, Syria, and Iran. And this is just skimming the top of it all. Now I don't hate Russian people or anything like that, but the Russian leaders have been solidly black-hearted individuals. I hope one day the Russian people are a free, prosperous, and happy people. Right now, most don't even smile, there have been so many generations of abuse. As for breaking up, yes, I agree that Russia is on track for a potential split due to inner power struggles. This could be the best case scenario for the Russian people. At the very least, east and west should break at the Urals, and probably a few smaller western chunks might come off as well. The big danger in this, to my eyes, is China. With Russia isolated, who would defend Russia from various control schemes coming out of China? In theory, they could even mobilize military to take the Siberian provinces, including the oil fields near Japan.
