  1. China doesn't need to invade Taiwan. They could launch missiles and do what amounts to a seige. They could block shipping in and out of Taiwan. But this is probably off the table for now, because there appears to be a significant alliance forming between Australia, India, and Japan. The CCP may be attempting to subvert Myanmar, which would give them strategic access to the Bay of Bengal, bypassing the straits.
