China has never started an armed conflict, and will unlikely do so. The world is aware of the one China policy which will remain until reunification occurs. Sure China will appear to threaten Taiwan, in the same way as America continues to threaten China with its naval fleet constantly sailing up and down the coast. Both are intimidation, but neither are likely to back down. In history this was a situation created by America failing to specifically name Formosa in the surrender document with Japan. Now America, to me is behaving like gangsters using protection as a tool for support. Let them deal with it, and ensure that Australia does no more then look after its own interests.

@DivergentStyles it is apparent that people in positions of power up to and including the Prime Minister, have extremely loose tongues, not thinking before speaking. Even today, Morrison in a radio interview agreed with the one China, two systems principal for Taiwan, which is apparently not part of current government strategy.

@michaelmcclown5593 you are correct. But only the northern border region, in response to vietnam invading Cambodia, rightly or wrongly. China saw a massive build up of military defenses on Vietnam's northern border and suspected Vietnam of having further plans, with its recent defense pact with the Soviet Union. China withdrew from its troops one month later. Although it is little known in both China and Vietnam, many Chinese people, particularly those living in the border province of Guangxi, agree that the Khmer Rouge needed to be eliminated from Cambodia.

What is all this about Chinese aggression and so called expansion? China is in a constant state of self defense. Why, because Australia does not agree with China's ideology. China's ideology is not being pushed onto the rest of the world, as it is unique to only China. It is only the west, and in particularly speaking of war, not in China. China wants to expand as an economic power, and its military expansion has been built for self defense capabalities. Time for the west to wake up, and in particular to American propaganda, moving from one situation to another, starting with Hong Kong, Tibet, Xinjiang and now Taiwan. Remember who was behind financing problems in Tibet, then Hong Kong, and if they had their way, the East Turkenstan Democracy Movement (which is alikened to financing al-Qaeda) in Xinjiang. Of course America has made a mint from selling military hardware to Taiwan, so to incite it any further is good for American arms manufacturing. Wake up Australia! We have nothing to gain and everything to lose, being led by supposed narrow minded experts, brandishing threats of war. They are totally irresponsible.
