The video seems to ignore a reality. The rescue attempt was planned using the aircraft and helicopters of the 1st Spec. Op. Wing and the Army SF resource. The SOW had trained pilots and equipped helicopters (including refueling and extra crews). President Carter wanted all services involved, so using helicopters that could have been based far enough away that they won't tip the scheme. So the helicopters from a Naval carrier in the Gulf. A Marine helicopter squadron was trained for mine sweeping, and had been aboard the carrier for months and the helicopters were tired. The pilots had no experience in cooperating with the elements involved. Why I believe that the SOWs equipment was to be used, I was in the unit.
