Sparta and another state's elite band have homosexuality as a fact; but in the case of Sparta, it was used as a military factor. In Sparta, despite the idea of homosexuality, all men were expected to marry and have children; not doing this was considered wrong. The relationship in Sparta was a pairing to strengthen their willingness to fight to the end. Neither was would abandon the other on the battlefield. So, in Sparta at least it little to do with a normality of this belief.
