  1. A better choice for saying it is a WWI A-10 was the Junkers aircraft designed as a ground attack aircraft that was armored against sma,l arms. Officially the JI (also have seen J4 used, possibly one was official and the other a company designation). The nickname was the "furniture van".

  2. I should have added, the original spec came out in 1916. Possibly as many as 50 saw service during the war.
