  1. All those who want non-lethal force. A stun gun must make direct contact at reaching range; he could have reached the attacker in time to stop it. Pepper spray has to hit the face, which was facing away, so no go. A taser is even more problematic. Read the safety instructions on a taser. You are limited in safe areas to target, and they are ineffective if both electrodes aren't firm contact. The girl with tbe knife was near the maximum range of the taser, partially turned reducing the target area. Even if the taser was already out, the chances were high that it would be ineffective or worse case be dangerous to the young womsn with the knife. Please realize movies and TV aren't reality, and research.
