@DocJones2020 yeah, you still have to file , but the first 100k is not taxed, all gain above that are. You are also liable for FICA taxes (even on the first 100k, all 12.5%).

@DocJones2020 it's for the best, I lived outside the United States many times, there's nothing in America that you will miss in terms of safety or convenience. Your biggest obstacle is that America taxes US citizens even if they are abroad, and the process of renouncing your citizenship can be quite difficult and costly. Namely, the US wants you to pay 31% of your Global asset in order to renounce US citizenship, if you earn above a certain level. If you do not renounce your US citizenship, you are stuck paying us taxes even after you leave and are still subject to us jurisdiction. For a country that boast about being so free, they sure do make it extremely difficult to leave and sever ties.
