  4. It's easy to be naive when you have no experience Russia's neighbours have. There are 3 options when your country borders Russia You can be Russia's victim like Ukraine, Russia's pupet state like Belarus or Nato member state like Poland. Russia left Finland alone for a while but it would end at one point.

  17.  lesia gutierrez  Yest but only Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia were a part of USSR as a country while Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania were soviet satelites and separate states at the same time. Slovenia was a part of former Yugoslavia.

Joining Nato it's a choice. while being Russia's neighbour is not. Their safety concerns are real while Russia's concerns are often paranoid. They are not shere of influence, they are free people, not a buffer zone or a ping pong ball.

It's because Russia keeps invading neighbours. Being USSR slave for over 50 years, being invaded by Soviets in 1939 was not fun either. They (Poland, Finland, Baltic states) did not ask for it. If Russia was a good neighbour there would be no need to join Nato. You can be Russia's victim like Ukraine, Russia's puppet like Belarus or Nato member state like Poland. There is no other way and it's only's Russia's fult. USSR is gone but Putin's state of mind is still soviet. We are sick and tired of Putin's paranoia and excuses. Nato never attacked Russia. Russia's neighbour never attacked Russia. It's Russia who attacked Georgia, took Crimea and invaded Ukraine. Being neutral when you border Russia it's pure utopia. Nato never promised Russia not to expand. It's russian fake. Who does Russia think it is to decide about other country's pact choices? It's not Russia to decide and we don't care about Russia's fake concerns. Enough is enough. West has been treating Russia like a special need baby for way too long.

It's Russia who invaded Georgia, took Crimea with illegal referendum, it's Russia who attacked Ukraine. What about their safety and concerns. Are they less important? They are not a buffer zone, they are not sphere of infuence, they are free people living in an independent state and it's not Russia to decide about their pact choices. IF Russia was a good neighbour, they would have no need to join Nato. According to Budapest deal Russia was supposed to respect Ukraine's independence and borders. Ukraine is ot Putin's backyard, USSR is gone.
