@ponybgd Russia always feels provoked and humilated and it does not matter what West did or did not do. Others are not responsible for Russia's failures and really do not have to care about Russia's permission or sensitve feelings. Russia is not a "special need" country. And it is not Eastern Europe's master. USSR is gone and Russians are the only once not to get it yet.

@AmorosoGombe Poland borders Russia and joined Nato 25 years ago. Lithuania is former soviet republic the same as Ukraine and joined Nato in 2004, Finland has the biggest land border with Russia and joined Nato recently. War in Ukraine is about Ukraine being western oriented. Putin does not like it, he can not stand it. Nato is an excuse, not a reason for Putin. Ukraine had no chance to join anyway.

@PlaYer-sn5or The truth is if Russia was a good neighbour with no record of making mess in Eastern Europe, there would be no need to join Nato in order to be safe.

@PlaYer-sn5or I do not have to listen to guys on russian pay roll. My country's own experience with both USSR and Russia is all I need to know. Russia always needs excuses. Nato is an excuse. Russia loves playing the victim card and a liberator while being anythng but for her neighbours.

@PlaYer-sn5or Putin wants Ukraine as a part of Russia and he knew he could invade non Nato Ukraine only. Ukraine had no will to join before 2014 so Russia should look in the mirror and ask herself why.

@theministryofdecolonizatio6480 Ukrainians fight not to become Russia's colony because there is nothing wrong with that. Besides, asking others for help, calling the police in order not to be hurt anymore is not "lack of independence".

If Ukraine had been in Nato, Putin would have never invaded Ukraine. He can invade non Nato neighbours only. How "brave" of him. Putin has always wanted Ukraine back.If it was about Nato at Russia's borders, why dd't he invade Finland, Poland or Lithuania? Because he wants Ukraine and he wants russian empire back. Nato is an excuse. Nato would never invade Russia and had no plans to do so. If Russia does not like an idea of her neighbours joining Nato, maybe Russia should stop giving them reasons to join. If Russia was a good neighbour, there would be no need to ask for Nato membership. Russia will never change. Russia has a break sometimes and that is all. Eastern Europeans know it best.

@dangin8811 Russia is not Ukraine's master and Ukraine's pact choice is none of Russia's decissio. Putin hates Nato just like an abusive husband blames his wife for filing for divorce and calling the police because she did not want to be hurt anymore.

USA does not want to grab Mexicoanymore and American president does not claim "Mexicals are only little Americans" like Putin does to Ukraine and Ukrainian people so your point s invalid. Nato is an excuse and Russia has never been a friendly neighbour. It is still like blaming a victim for her will to be secured and safe. Other country's pact choice is one of Russia's decission. Stop comparing Russia to USA all the time. USA is both a good neighbour and a super power. Russia is anything but.
