@lawrencetchen Taiwan is a pawn for the US. Trust me, if China invades, the US will not fight a war with China. No one wins a nuclear war. It's no point in having Taiwanese people on here, because again Taiwan is a pawn. If Taiwan is smart, they would be figuring out how to declare independence without the US and get legally recognized as a country around the world. The US has kept Taiwan in limbo, in an unstable status quo that can not last indefinitely that gives the US temporary leverage over China and long term favors China conquering it. Why would we need to hear from a Taiwanese person talking about being a pawn?

And that's the sad thing, Australia trusting countries. Countries are not friends, we are all competing against each other. If China benefits your country more than the US, go with them. But I would hate to hear you saying in a few decades, we trusted China and we really did follow China into every bloody war they dipped their toes in around the world, like a good little lap dog. Start trusting in Australia and only follow countries when they benefit Australia. You should never trust a company when they say you are family, and you should never trust a country when they say you are friends.

@ivanencinas9259 Why doesn't the US recognize Taiwan as an independent country? The US recognizes the One China principle and is strategically vague about whether it will or won't protect Taiwan if China invades (Note that the US refuses to fight Russia over Ukraine because Russia is a nuclear power. China is too.) If you want more respect for Taiwan, expect it from the US government, not Ben. The US is perfectly fine with Taiwan not being a country in a limbo that can't last forever and favors China taking it over.

I'll be honest, I think China is going to take over Taiwan eventually. There's literally nothing for the US to gain by going to war with China, and the US isn't exactly helping Taiwan to become an independent nation. Every year or two, countries cut their ties to Taiwan to keep China happy. This can't continue indefinitely yet the US doesn't use its clout to change this downward trend. Their name is still the Republic of China and the US is fine with this. The US is also trying to become less dependent on Taiwan chips so the US isn't economically and militarily hurt if China conquers Taiwan. The more time passes, the more ready the US is going to be ready to abandon Taiwan. If the US won't fight Russia to protect Ukraine because Russia is a nuclear power, the US isn't going to fight China, a nuclear power, over Taiwan.
