  3. This is much deeper than saying "teachers bad" though. All five of mine succeeded in public schools. But that was mainly because that is what I required of them. My kids would start with the "but my friends..." arguments and I would counter with the "America does need burger flippers...." side of things. The greatest challenge, my son, recently pointed out "his friend" who was indeed serving us burgers at a fast food joint. People send their darlings to school with a personal computer in their pocket with all the accompanying social media distractions and then complain when little Johnny can't read...and somehow this is the teacher's fault? My two oldest now have the same standards for their own kids. I was recently notified that my granddaughter made the honor roll...all my daughter had to say was "that was tough pushing her through".

  5.  @michellelowe15  Honestly, I thank you! All the teachers I have encountered in my life (ok, maybe not 1 or 2) have been the type of people we need in this country. I get so discouraged when I see these videos denigrate the efforts of schools and teachers. It is interesting to note that most of the talking heads have been raised in these same schools they now speak about. Earlier today there was a video of Senator Scott visiting his old high school which had a plaque honoring him. He praised the school in that video...
