  2. Yeah, that's a hard no on free houses. But a taxpayer funded higher education system with directed degrees (no BA with a major in basket weaving) would benefit the country. An educated populace is a necessary engine for a country's success. The success created by the postwar GI bill proved this. Our for-profit Colleges and Universities have devolved into money pits.
