People get too caught up thinking one side is "good" while the other "evil" and when "either you're with me, or you're against me" and "if I'm right, you're wrong". Vote for a person, not a party. Vote for a person, not an ideology. No one will ever represent me perfectly except for myself, so we will never be perfectly happy with a representative government official.

A fantasy based on a story of a time you didn't live. You may as well tell me you think King Arthur would be your soul-mate. That makes about as much sense.

And anyone who tells you any different (looking at you, Laura) is just trying to sell you magic beans.

She knew she'd never be elected in Hawaii as a Republican. They eventually caught on to her and dumped her.

@54WantingMore I was quite unhappy at his performance during Covid. Most were.

@54WantingMore Perhaps you saw what you wanted. Most didn't. I felt Trump was going to be reelected before Covid, but needed to 1. Mostly keep silent and solemnly acknowledge deaths. 2. Reassure the public to trust that scientists and public health would help get a handle on it. 3. Don't point fingers. 4. Don't rabbit-hole into untested and unproven "remedies". 5. Remain mostly silent. 6. Focus first on the health of the public, rather than "my stock market". He had one crisis. And failed miserably in his own actions. I knew by August he wouldn't be reelected. Was Covid his fault? No. Was his performance during Covid his fault? Absolutely.

@54WantingMore In many cases, the President will own problems outside his control. He will get positive credit for things he did little to achieve and negative press for things out of his control. A more even president does not try to crow about positives not his and doesn't squawk about negatives not his. He just accepts. All that is just theoretical, of course, because of human nature and reelection, but the ones who can stick closest to that and seem unflappable in the face of crises are generally the most well-regarded.
