  1. Deinstitutionalization began with JFK and was completed by Reagan. The thought was that we could better handle these folks outpatient and without commitment. But funding battles almost always underfund their ideas. 🤷‍♂️

  2. ​ @CallMeJarv  I too think there are good reasons to commit some folks. They'll get better care than being homeless and will stop creating problems. Right now, they are taken to hospitals and jails and then booted out for lack of resources and space. We need some (decent) place for these folks, but it must be funded.
