As a Coloradan, I suggest that Trump supporters who reject this decision consider how they would react if Biden, or any Democrat, had carried out the same actions Trump did. Do that honestly and keep your genuine answers to yourself.

It has been applied 8 times in the history of this country. None of the 8 had been charged nor convicted of insurrection or treason.

@themeangene None was convicted of insurrection nor treason, which is the reason they were barred by civil declaration from holding office. The point being, that the clause refers to a civil, not criminal disqualification.

@RobinDale50 This is not a criminal punishment for insurrection. That may come later by Jack Smith in the DC indictment. The barring of candidates through 14th, section 3 has been determined to be a civil matter. Read up on it, it is part of our history which is not explored much.
