  4.  @JamesSmullins  The Russian ruble isn't doing so well, either. In the last year it has lost about 50% against thr USD. The Brazilian real is holding its own for now, but Brazil doesn't have such a great track record. Long-term, the SA rand isn't doing very well either. Thirty years aco it was 3.66 to one USD. Now it's almost 20. If a BRICS currency starts, it will be built on pillars of sand. No wonder India wants no part of it.

  7.  @sharpsticksnz4112  The Chinese can invest in what, other than physical gold? If you keep your gold in the bank, it's the same as cash. In a crunch, the bank won't give it to you. The banks sell much more paper that shows gold ownership than there is gold in the banks' possession. Some say by a factor of 4. The banks then tell people that the paper is worth as much as the gold, but it's safer in the bank.
