With Iraq embargo in place in March '03 when invasion started, it's all speculation, bottom line commodity markets don't like wars, any kind of war especially in "hot" spots, oil-rich nations, so they could have reacted differently in '03 but they didn't, when now with Libya...

French, German, Russian govs, when you make very profitable deals with dictators who kill their own ppl, Iraq's SH in this case, I cannot have any respect for that, can I? And if you think of Saudi Arabia and US foreign policy, while I don't agree with how women are treated in the Kingdom, Sharia Law, that's never been any genocide in SA, like the one in Iraq against the Kurds in the '80s.

@Uhmu45 GOOD news?????????????/ It took Americans less than a week to take down Saddam Hussein in March 2003 and ZERO oil price increase (please google 'oil price history') because of the invasion, when now, not just NATO (with ZERO american involvement) cannot get rid of Gadaffi but the oil prices have spiked like crazy and everybody around the world suffers because of that, why is that? only americans can protect oil fields but you need either troops on the ground or 'shock & awe' campaign.

WRONG, please go to wikipedia and 'Oil-for-Food_Programme', it explains in details how the dictator was able to stay in power for so long by selling his oil to the outside world, also those that strongly opposed the war were also strongly doing business with the dictator, France, China and Russia, and French giant Elf in '93 was awarded the exclusive contract to the Iraqi Oil Fields by the dictator. So?

@Uhmu45 No no no, Libya is just one factor, THE international factor of today, but of course way other reasons that contribute to today's high gas prices, high gas taxes, environmental regulations, almost zero new off-shore drilling leases after Obama took power, also China and India/Pakistan, almost 2 BILLION ppl using more and more oil, also speculation on the oil markets, etc., but again, no global oil price increase when USA got into Iraq with troops and toppled SH's brutal regime, right?

@Uhmu45 But Oil-for-Food was not illegal in any way, was fully supported by UN and outside the embargo strict rules, so the dictator was legally (so not under the table) selling his oil to (mostly) France, China, Russia, also Germany, so mostly to those that later opposed the '03 Iraq invasion, he never allowed USA, CDA or UK to use his oil thru that particular UN-run program. And after '03 invasion almost zero oil disruption in Iraq, americans and british fully protected the oil fields.
