On the ground level, parents choosing the best sport for their kids, hockey IS the most popular sport in Sweden and Finland, of course in front of TV soccer is the most WATCHED sport pretty much everywhere in the world, but again, in those 2 very welfare states parents dream all their lives to see their kids play one day in USA or CDA in NHL, right? GR: SOCIALISM since 1945, USA is another story I cannot cover in just 500-character comments, debt before 2009 but since Obama, $5 TRILLION more.

  2. "Football isn't the most popular sport in America" Have you ever heard of The SUPER BOWL? Have you ever watched the commercials during the Super Bowl? Do you think if football was not popular in America a 30-sec Super Bowl commercial would cost $3+ MILLION? Football, baseball, basketball and hockey are the most popular pro-sports in America, CDA as well. We also have MLS, the pro-soccer league, but it's popular mostly among spanish-speaking locals, mexicans plus rest of S & C America.

  3. If they are doing so fine why so many Swedes and Finish hockey players have their ultimate dream to play in the NHL, ask Mats Sundin and maybe you'll find the answer why the AMERICAN DREAM is... PRICELESS. Listen, I'm from EU and in NA for over 22 years, I would never ever trade a bad life over here with anything good in EU, NA is like high speed internet when EU like dial-up. BTW, define for me please, if you can, the EU DREAM compared to the well-known AMERICAN DREAM.

  5. "Everyone around the world comes here to play in the premier league." True, but how many CDA & USA parents dream to see their kids one day play football (soccer) in EU? When you have NHL, NBA (lots of EU players as well), MLB, NFL, MLS (David Beckham plays for LA Galaxy) with pro-teams only that pay MILLIONS of bucks to each player, there is no more need to dream of EU anymore. How many Americans or Canadians play in EU's (major) soccer leagues? Very good for Baltic States to be on FREEDOM side.

NHL is the RICHEST hockey league in the world, that's why parents in such EU nordic countries always dream 2 see their kids make it one day in NHL, to see their own kids have a more prosper life than their own. Any military spending in EU's local budgets? In the past 5-7 decades who liberated W EU, Korea, tried Vietnam (unsuccessful) then '91 Iraq (to liberate Kuwait) then get rid of Al-Qaeda and Talibans then get rid of DICTATOR Saddam Hussein, but if you don't care about world dictatorships...
