  4. The dems just came out of 2 presidential wins and won the popular vote the 2 other times... hardly a streak of losses. Since they had the presidency for 2 terms, the other party get to play the "with us in power, even your wildest dreams will come" card and enough idiots swallowed it. All coal jobs will be back and so on. At the same time, half the progressives decided they would sabotage the chances the dems had of winning another one. So no, with that data, you don't get to talk about a loosing streak or strategy. I clearly would prefer the dems being more left, but there isn't much point being more left if the people that actually vote aren't there. And you might want to check the platform of HRC... it was as left as could reasonably be while retaining a chance to win. As for those democrat wins when they ran as progressives, what candidate are you talking of? You could never paint a Clinton as a progressive because that would kill all your other lines, so what are we left with? Obama? His platform wasn't more progressive than HRC's. As for the republican party decades ago (before being massively infected by conservatives), you would never paint that as progressive. It was even more in bed with the corporations and special interests than the DNC is nowadays. It's not that the DNC loves the corporate money... it doesn't. All members of the SC elected by dems voted against Citizens United. As long as most progressives can't be arsed to vote, stuff such as money out of politics in unreachable and so the DNC has to play with the cards it was given. I will agree that this last election showed that there is a winning path with >>less<< big contributors (or corrupters if you prefer) and I hope that will bring change in the democrat party (not that I'm seeing any change here, I'll agree). And while I'm at it: "money out of politics" is just a zinger until you put actual meat behind it. For example, if a top of the shelf celebrity does a bunch of free concerts in support of a candidate, should that be illegal? If someone pays people whose videos support a candidate... would that be legal? Just "money out of politics" is meaningless and I've tried getting answers about what wolf-pac means by that, but however hard I looked or asked, I never saw anything meaningful about it. Making zingers is easy... writing bills and having them pass is a ton harder. Just so you know, I live in a country that has single-payer (+ private assurances for cosmetics, one bedroom in hospital etc), free tuition and pretty few money in politics. It's great, and actually cheaper while giving better results. But we are more liberal over here (and our conservatives are very different) and more of our people live in cities and therefore are more receptive to such programs. If our country was perpetually at war, we would have hanged our leaders ages ago... it's a different crowd. In the same line: the princes in Saudi-Arabia are more progressive than their people and that is why they don't move as quickly as we'd want on so many fronts. Not making them heroes, they aren't in ANY way. But reality matters. Now you can continue making sure the right keeps the power and can pretend they have the same policies, but then I'll continue calling you the right-wing-useful-idiots. Bernie is no tool and that is why he keeps his mind on the target even if some of his supporters want him to just destroy the left and congratulate each others on how progressive they are, while you can't actually call yourself a progressive if you move against that progress. I really like Bernie and have for a decade; I also support moves to make the dem party more progressive and even for progressives running against incumbent liberals... but it has to be done as Bernie did: without sabotaging the chances of the only party that has any interest in progressive policies.
