Aeroldoth3 Oh, but Leviticus is so much full of garbage even Christians only touch it with a pole. They even have some line of reasoning where Leviticus is not relevant anymore and never was to be obeyed by non Jews (I'm not an expert, so could be wrong).
The bible, through jesus, somewhere, does say that a marriage is between a man and a women, but it does it the same way that people answer children about where do babies come from: "when a mommy and a daddy love each other very blabla"... when they say that, they aren't making a statement about that being the only way or any other way being anathema.
I see their conclusions based on that as a result of poor reading abilities mixed with bigotry. I'm basically repeating what a Xian priest that doesn't mind marrying gays etc said (apart from the insults... those are mine :D).
The Christians are all over the place about how to get to heaven.
I still believe it's bigots more than religion that have and still are harming lgtb's. Since the bible can't be used as a source of law in the US, the bigots assert that allowing lgtb's to marry for example, would lead to people marrying animals... some people are bigots, with or without religion.

Aeroldoth3 Oh, but the need to have more spawn was a policy most countries had and actually, most still have. There is a reason even people with golden toilets receive money from the states for their children. That reason is that it's not bleeding heart lefties policies... it's real-politics, with emphasis on military matters, still today.
Might change in the future, and I believe that is the biggest reason more people don't care about people being lgtb... and that would be weapons of mass destruction and such. Also, with the rise in inequalities, poor people pay a lower share of taxes and therefore having more of them is less important to finance the militaries and fill the cannon-fodder needs, because wars are more decided by technology than amount of soldiers.
There was a time when if you put your hat on someone's bed, you were looked like the ante-christ, and that was that it risked spreading bugs. And even when that risk dived down, that tradition staid around for a long while.
The context is where that kind of stuff is born, and when the traditions are no more up to date with the situation, we call it bigotry, at least for some of them.
I don't deny that religion helps such bigotry to stay around, but I refuse them being the source of the bigotry.
Islam for example is strongly against eating pork... because it was very dangerous in the desert (+ probably some economic reasons or geo-politic ones or simply pigs being smarter than other farmed to eat animals or simply the sounds they emit when killed (really horrible)).
Islam was based on ideas floating around already. The only other way of seeing it is that those ideas miraculously appeared inside those texts... as an atheist, I don't accept that.
Nowadays, with refrigerators and so on, it makes less sense, but it was born in a situation where it made sense.
