The renaissance of traditional architecture should be a top priority of this generation. Beautiful, human scale environments improve our quality of life incredibly.

True, I have seen the most radical leftists be in favor of traditional architecture. It’s also a very binding factor. If you want to help create beautiful cities then to me it doesn’t matter at all who you are. It’s one of the most important factors for our quality of life.

@edwalker598 Because like I said we need beautiful buildings in our surroundings. Modernism isn’t good at delivering that. That’s literally what this whole channel is about too if you haven’t noticed 😂

But then why is it possible in some places ? And people need to be aware that ugly buildings will be demolished much sooner than beautiful ones. So in the long run they’re more expensive.
26
An example for many other damaged European cities. And also for new ones, we can still build beautiful.
21
Amazing production quality again. Your channel will really blow up one day for sure

In my country (Netherlands) 1920-30’s housing built by a democratic constitutional monarchy, were both beautiful and cheap. So it’s a lie that only communism, socialism can provide cheap housing and that it has to be ugly.

Great to see this channel blowing up. Amazing content and great production quality. Gefeliciteerd Ruben, ga zo door. 😁 We need an architecture renaissance.

@mint2574 Ah ok. Well maybe try to fake it then until you made it. Even though it’s hard 😉 Good luck! Better times will come because more and more people are advocating for more detailing and traditional traits in buildings.

@jnnakle101 Cheaper doesn’t mean durable. Most old buildings are preserved and lots of modern ones need to be replaced because they either wear out more easily or people just dislike them. Building beautiful is building durable

Architects need to be fully aware that what they build will be seen by someone wether they want to or not. If you want to have full artistical expression you should have gone for a painters career, those are placed inside buildings thus not everyone has to see it. Architects should be held responsible for what they build in our shared outside environment and the public opinion should indeed be taken into account much much more.

American ? It’s a blessing being able to go to work, stores and restaurants with your bike.
2
I agree traditionalism can look much better. But if you put concrete brutalism above this you’re mentally ill.
2
All the poor people or only a small part ? It’s good for poor people to have richer people move in their neighborhoods. The general quality goes up

@aristeon5908 Please never visit Paris, Barcelona, Madrid, Rome, Prague and Amsterdam ever again then and stay in those hideous cities. We’ll built more of the ones I named above and you can built more dystopian glass skyscraper cities. Deal ?

@paullindsay9451 What an extremely low iq response. Then I can say you know who liked modernism too, Stalin. Who was even worse than Hitler. It’s like saying you like dogs, you know who else liked dogs ? Why are you so triggered by it weirdo
1
It should be a top priority of this generation to counter the failure that modernism is.

@the_aesthetic_city Told you 😉

So weird those people behave that way. I've heard similar stories, I wonder what's behind it ? I thought people on those studies would be very tolerant people as well.

@mint2574 Which university ?

@mint2574 You don’t even use your real name here. Is it that bad ?

Hele goede video man! Geabonneerd.

I think the name modernist is also wrong, it should just be called minimalism. Bland, boring architecture which in some individual cases can be ok, but not in large quantities. ‘Modernism’ is a very old style now too so the word gets a bad connotation because of both things. Modern is linked to progress, but this style is actually regressive.
1
@cletusbufford Let me guess you’re American ? Your view is distorted because of the ugly McMansions. Real traditionalism is the most beautiful style. How can you put a German coastal bunker type building above this ? And modernism is over 100 years old too so it’s copying something old too. Sometimes we have to agree that we can’t improve on something anymore and something which falls into that category is architecture.
1
@cletusbufford Let’s make a deal all of you who like brutalism and modernism can live in Chisinau, Bucharest etc and we who like traditionalism in Paris, Barcelona etc. Deal ?
1
@LO-dm6uf Modernism is over a 100 years old now too. So that’s copying too, you should look at it as a style not a way of copying and people like traditional styles for it’s beauty and detail. Not because it’s old dumbass. People want details and high quality materials. Not some boring square building with panels.
