  2. The reason why there is a disconnect between hasidim/orthodox jews and reform jews is because orthodox jews don't believe in reform. The torah is divine and clearly states will never be revised or reformed. Also correct me if I'm wrong but reform jews don't necessarily believe in the oral torah which orthodox do believe/are certain they are both divine so cannot be ignored or thrown away. So there is a youtube video called "torah and science" or "the purpose of life" by rabbi yosef mizrachi. He explains all topics in Judaism from simple concepts to more complicated ones. You can watch the life story of him or of rabbi alon anava or rabbi yaron reuvan. All these people discovered religion very late in life and their life story is quite fascinating! I'm a jew as well and would love to answer your questions that you have. Feel free to ask away! We believe with certainty that the torah (jewish Bible) is divine and we have our purpose in life clearly written. (Torah in Hebrew means manual or instruction book). We live our day to day lives by it believing that the creator of the human being knows the recipe for happiness (just as the creator of a computer would know the ins and out of a computer) . We actually believe in Judaism you get rewarded for the effort not the result. (If a person tries to do a good deed gd will reward them for trying even if they were not successful.)   14.  @wavyremix  there are actually proofs that the torah is divine and given at mt Sinai. It is full of prophecies (the only religion actually that has prophecies) no human being could have written (since no human knows the future). It also has many details about the Earth that couldn't have been known 3000 years ago like the amount of galaxies nd types of fish....and many more.... feel free to ask me anything but definitely know that your ancestors risked their lives many times over the last few thousand years to continue their tradition so please take the time and at the very least do some research (I relate to you and that's why I did my research to be surprised at the clarity I received ). I was in your shoes and I wanted to live my life with clarity and it took time but thank gd I now know my purpose in life and makes me content. 33 is young : ) one of the greatest sages in all of jewish history (rabbi akiva) only learned about Judaism at the age of 40 (and many others). The rule in Judaism is never look back. You don't get judged on the past once you change your ways its wiped clean as if it never happened. We believe with certainty the torah is divine so we can't praise or encourage something that gd doesn't agree with and strongly condems in the torah which is our instruction book for life. (Torah in Hebrew means a manual.) By the way, how people treat children that took different paths is definitely an individual thing. Each family handles it differently. Wishing you the best!

Look at Israel - less than 80 years later and they are one of the leading country in the world in medicine technology agriculture.... and the only democracy in the Middle East. I don't believe they are expecting or asking for anyone's pity.

  25.  @Ashley-oc4uy  so ill make it very simple and if you have questions ask. The world was created first then Adam and eve. 10 generations later noa (noach) was born. Gd destroyed the world by a flood for the level of immorality in the world and recreated a new world with certain standards and that's why we have the 7 noahide laws. About 10 generations later Abraham issac and Jacob came about and the 12 children of Jacob landed up in Egypt wher the jews were tortured and exiled until Moses took them out and that is where they received the torah (jewish bible) at mount Sinai. After that they went into the land of Israel and there is much more history but that is where Judaism was born (the first religion ever) . There are many proofs the torah was divine for instance many prophecies about the future which of course no human can predict the future and secondly a lot of info about the creation of the world that no human could have known at that point in history for example the amount of species of fish and the amount of galaxies and stars... and many more (if your interested il be happy to send you more). About 1000 years later Christianity was born after a man named Jesus claimed to have been born to a mother Marie that got pregnant thru gd and not through a natural way of a father. They have what they call the new testament. They claim a new and updated version. Jews reject this belief for many reasons. 1) the new testament has many human errors which obviously gd doesn't make mistakes 2) he claims to be the messiah which cannot be since he is not from the lineage of king David 3) it says clearly in the torah that it will never be changed or revised 4) one of the 10 commandments which is a basic in the world is not believing in any other gd or form of gd or savior other than the one that gave the torah. There are many more reasons. (Feel free to watch the debate between the rabbi mizrachi and the pastor) . I hope that gave you a basic understanding of the history of the 2 religions. When I sent in my DNA to ancestry.com it came back as jewish. Interesting but true : ) I wil find out about the blood type 0.   32. Hey! I'm a jewish person and in my humble thinking i believe the reason that religious jews seem to be so at peace is because they have a strong sense of purpose in life. We each know our mission here on earth and have zero doubt that the torah (jewish bible) is divine. Torah in Hebrew actually means Manual or instruction book for how to live. We believe the creator of the human knows the ingredients for happiness and we follow his book. (just as someone who created a computer would know the ins and outs of a computer).   34. Hey I'm jewish and I go to exercise classes twice a week and running twice a week! Could be you don't live in a jewish neighborhood so that is why you dont see much jews. In Lucille ball gym or planet fitness or any local gym I'm pretty sure it's full of jewish woman. I used to be there often : ) hope that answers ur question!

I relate to how you feel and just so you know rabbi yosef mizrachi definitely answered many questions I had. Also just remember Judaism is not an all or nothing. If you believe in the torah (shabbat, tfilin) and gd and your struggling with it being too hard then even if you found doing everything was too hard you can still do the small things that don't change your lifestyle at all (putting a mezuza on ur door or wear tzitzit under your shirt or not breaking shabbat just 1 time less) and take baby steps. (Much longer than the 90 years you will spend here). Would you risk 90 years for many more than 90 years. Keep doing research until you get the clarity you need. I get you sincerely and you are a smart person I can tell. Watch the debate between rabbi mizrachi and the skeptic atheist. Maybe that wil help you but you deserve to know the truth for the 1 percent chance Judaism is correct and there is life of eternity after these short years that fly by.

Just to let you know it says in the torah it will never be revised or changed and according to orthodox Judaism the divine torah includes the oral torah which i believe the reform people don't accept so orthodox jews believe being reform is against the torah.
