  1. Northern Virginia needs to be forced to break away and become a separate state. The Hampton Roads metro area (the more urban areas of Tidewater Virginia) is not to liberal as a rule, because all the transient service people (mostly Navy, although Hampton has a bunch of Air Force people because of Langley AFB) help skew their politics a bit more rightward. There is some Army due to Fort Eustis, as well. HEAVY military area, but more concentrated than the DC area. Let NorVA go; after that, the remaining parts of Virginia should seriously consider merging with West Virginia. Virginia's senators seem to generally come from the Northern Virginia area anyway, so "losing" two senators is no big deal, as West Virginia's two senators will still be with us.
