  1. Amanita pantherina is NOT white, but a coppery color, almost metallic-looking. They are only deadly if you don't dry them out 100% before use. The same procedure works for the muscaria species as well. Of the two, pantherina is regarded as the more psychoactive of the two. Sources that claim pantherina is unknown in North America are incorrect. I found one in Central Virginia a few years back, and I recently saw a photo of one found in Maryland.
