You absolutely should blame yourself if your dog gets eaten by an alligator, if you live in, or are visiting the indigenous region of any crocodilian, it's your responsibility to be aware of that and take steps to keep yourself and your family safe.

  2. He sounds like one of the people who's genuinely so stupid, he really believes it. The people putting those ideas in his head know damn well that it's all bullshit, they just also know that supporting criminals creates chaos and fear, and people living in chaos and fear are more likely to support authoritarian government policies.
