I have a conspiracy theory that at some point in time whoever runs TYT decided they were tired of it and just didn't want to do it anymore, but rather than just fading into obscurity they decided it would be funnier to just put out the most extremely deranged and comically awful version of "news" ever made. And leftists unironically liked it. So they were kinda like hmmm.... That's.... Something. And they just rolled with it. And have been rolling with laughter ever since.

I was thinking the same thing, I highly doubt a successful director is genuinely this stupid, he's surely out of touch and probably a little out of his mind, like most Hollywood weirdos, but I don't think he's stupid. It sounds like he did something outrageously suspicious, but not illegal, to purposefully get "wrongfully accused" of a crime so he could cry racism.
