  2. No personal experience there, but I have struggled with alcohol my entire adult life, and what you're saying is absolutely true to alcohol, that's for sure. The best answer is somewhere in the middle, but the "soft" approach leftists tend to go for, where nothing is your fault and you're just a helpless victim is definitely harmful. The more "hard" approach that conservatives tend to favor isn't always helpful either, the "just stop being an addict, bucko" usually doesn't actually do much. But it's not actively harmful like the leftist approach. Ultimately it's up to you. No amount of good will and flowery catch phrases in the world will help you if you don't want to help yourself.
