 @NihongoWakannai That's true, and I think the video was supposed to be just a quick outlook on what you can do as a software engineer. The video would get way longer if she went into detail.

@Floppa The Based sadly there's been some studies where the situation has been the exact opposite. Same skills and qualifications but if the name was changed from Jennifer to John the application got more responses. I hope STEM companies will become more objective and look only at the person and their skills instead of their gender. Hiring someone just because it looks 'good' (women, lgbt people, people of color, disabled people etc) would be as bad as hiring someone just because they happen to be a male.

@Floppa The Based I think the mindset should change, more teamwork less competitiveness. A variety of people with different backgrounds can be useful since for example software developers don't only develop software for men. Different viewpoints can be an advantage. Not to mention that would be an odd reason to exclude a skillful and hardworking person. Adults should be able to regulate their emotions and make sure everyone has a peaceful work atmosphere. It's admirable to do your best but getting jealous won't help anyone. I dont think it's a male nature problem, but an ego problem. I don't think it's good to simplify all men like that, there are also those who are genuinely great employees and coworkers to all genders, true professionals.
