  1.  @taoliu3949  Yep. That’s always the narrative being promoted by the CCP that the opium war was the cause of China’s decline when in fact it is due to the mismanagement of the Qing dynasty. This is caused by decades of internal weaknesses and corruption. By the end of the Qing dynasty 9 out of 10 Qing public officials were corrupt. That is the real reason for the fall of Qing. And one major weakness of the Chinese is the inability to see their own weaknesses and they find it easier to blame the westerners for it. I guess even now they still have this weakness and is blaming the west as usual.

  2. It’s not bizarre. It’s a safety net. Many wealthy Chinese knows the Chinese housing market is extremely speculative and it could inevitably crash one day. If shit hits the fan they still have their assets in the US or Canada to save them.

  3.  @ericmanget4280  Agreed. I believe some states now have provisions to impose a tax penalty on empty property. This is state by state tho not federal.
