  2. At first they tried to attack local nuclear plant - failed to reach it by a mile. Then they tried to at least move as deeply as possible to force Russia relocate troops from Donbass - failed that spectacularly. Russia instead used that opportunity to move conscripts and use such against Ukrainian forces - a move that would be illegal in Russian laws otherwise. Then they tried to grab as many civilians as they could to use such in exchange fund for their own POWs. That had partial sucess and all morality losses that such move implies - were hiddden by western propaganda. Finally, Zelensky decided that military force inside Russian territory is good on it's own on PR field to sell to the people he begs money from, again, partial sucess. The Ukrainian reserves get moved down in unfortified locations, but Zelesnky managed to get more resources. though, it was mostly due to hysteria among democrats about Trump's victory. So he will keep the troops there until February.
