You never explained how the Earth can be accelerating in every direction at the same time and yet still remain the same size. Also, why does space time curve around object with large mass then if not for gravity? And why does Earth have an atmosphere? Why is everything drawn towards the mass of earth?

@Jonereator2 Size doesn't effect gravitational pull, only mass. You could have a cotton ball twice the size of the earth but it still wont have the same gravitational pull.

@Seriouslydave Things change. Territorial disputes, disease outbreaks, drought, to find easier and more consistent food sources. Before farming people had to rely on what they could find, not what they could grow. Perhaps populations grow and therefore require some to move out in order to support themselves. Weather conditions change. Perhaps they hunted to local animals to extinction (like with the wooly mammoth). Perhaps curiosity. Etc. Etc.

It's cool to see these back and forth, sorta friendly science feud explanation videos. Like the wind sail one too. Makes these complex ideas more obtainable for the rest of us, even if this is over my head. Youtube actually helping to further scientific discussions with the public.

@tylerbrown3135 You wouldn't have to replace anything. You'd just have one that said Celsius when you bought a new car. Easy peasy. People would learn the new numbers real quick. Besides, all cars have km/hr on the speedometer even though we don't use km in the US.

Villain. You don't create chlorine gas out of benevolence. He just oversees the killing of 67,000 people from the gas right before his wife's suicide and they had an argument about his creating chemical weapons. Then he immediately leaves to go execute another gas attack?! She was a women's rights activist and possibly a pacifist. Also you can't create chlorine gas (among other chemical weapons he created and tested btw) and use it to kill so many people and then pretend you are suddenly pro-human rights when it's turned on your own people. The logic of a hypocrite.

because gravity is dependent on mass, that's why planets rotate around the sun, or each other, and a ball of cotton does not rotate around a leaf. Gravity is the weakest of the 4 forces, nuclear and electromagnetic forces are stronger hence why you only observe gravity on extremely large (high mass) objects like planets. electromagnetic force has poles because it has a positive and negative. Gravity does not, it only attracts.

So the soil decreased by 60 kg and the tree weighed 72 kg..... how does that mean it's mostly air? Wouldn't that mean it's mostly soil and like 20-ish% air (CO2). Otherwise the soil would have weighed the same after the tree grew for 5 years.

@tf1639 Even if Earth expends energy with the force of gravity, that energy would take almost forever to run out seeing as how gravity is the weakest force. I mean even the sun literally burning gas takes billions or trillions of years to run out of fuel and that's expending Way more energy than gravity.

@rtensor That sounds like an excellent analogy, but I still don't see how it proves that gravity doesn't exist.? Gravity is an incredibly weak force after all.

I think the easy/sensational news uses (brain) system 1, which is more reactionary and doesn't require mental effort, where as something engaging would require system 2 and require mental effort which the brain, from an evolution standpoint, wants to avoid unless necessary for immediate survival because mental effort uses resources like calories and time.

Seems like you could also just add up the radiuses. If the little circle has radius x and the large circle has radius 3x, then the full trip around would be 4x.

The main goal of socialism is to create an egalitarian society in which the means of production are controlled by the people and not just one person profiting off everybody else. To reduce the growing disparity of the wealth gap. Most of the classic examples of socialism were just dictators using equality as propaganda to control and take over a nation. Just look at Mao. The whole idea of becoming a socialist or communist dictator is by definition an impossibility since policy and production are supposed to be controlled by the people and not by 1 person (although socialism/communism are such broad terms that they don't really describe any specific form for government). Besides, all the countries that failed to implement socialism were not plunged into chaos because of socialism but because they were already in chaos and/or the royals/bourgeoisie fought back. I mean, do you really want to have Jeff Bezos and Bill Gates be in charge of every aspect of our lives? Cause the whole problem with capitalism is that the wealth disparity keeps growing like it has in the US. Look at countries that have some form of social democracy. Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Netherlands, Finland, Germany. They all usually have healthcare and education instead of making people bankrupt to get a job, education or fight a sickness or disease. So yeah, when the rich right back against equality.... it's probably the rich's fault. Bill Gates and Jeff Bezos' (among others) addictions to power and money are going to end badly for the rest of us I can guarantee that.

I don't get it. The soil in the pot decreased by 60kg and the tree was 72kg..... so wouldn't that mean most of the mass DID come from the soil and like 20-ish % came from the air? Or maybe the tree somehow uses elements in the soil but looses them (like leaves falling off the tree, etc?)
