@tomwaitsmencse The past "consensus". What does that matter? Today we have more data and knowledge than in the past so why would we believe past interpretations that we know are wrong over todays interpretations that have way more proof? In the past, the US government thought LSD might be used to control peoples minds and there's lots more wacky things people thought in the past like the past consensus that the Earth was flat. These things have no bearing on the fact that we now know and have more proof that the Earth is in fact a sphere. Greenhouse gases released by burning fossil fuels and agriculture (especially animal agriculture) cause a greenhouse effect, heating up the Earth causing ice to melt which raises sea levels.
