... they can't That is the thing. Yes they have their own chip production but... it is not yet at the level Taiwan, Europe or the USA has. And with the export/import limations China will have to STEAL that. On average the chips they can make are 5 years behind in process. And that is it. "Just five years" ...yeah but there are more issues. For a while China was pushing for its own CPU's and a lot of companies making chips would rise up. Companies that like most chinese companies had no own knowledge or intelligence to work with. Sure they could make FAB's but, did they have the IP the chip design. Many didn't even make any real product before going bankrupt. There is a rot in the Chinese Economy. A problem well known. if ONE foodstall in a street is succesful within a few months the whole street is full of food vendors. They kill their own market. They don't think about LONG TERM... they do short term. Short term gain without really thinking what happens in 2-3 years... How many restuarants open and shut down there in about 3 months? Right? Same with the chips. They suddenly had a lot of FAB makers...but besides chips of mobile phones and printers... what did they have? Their best CPU was a copy from AMD. A copy of a 1600 made in license with AMD. And that was a one time deal... They have tools, but not the knowledge.
