  2. Very similar to us growing up in the 80s Balcans. ❤ We were taught every life skill under the sun in order to be self sufficient. Families would make their own flour, oil, and sugar, the only thing we didn't produce was rice. And we would do laundry by hand, with big pieces of homemade soap and I remember how lovely the clothes smelled after being dried in the wind. And in the winter they'd froze and we'd finish drying them by the fire and it made thr whole house smell fresh! I want to go back to those simple times. ❤

  4. I guarantee you they don't think about gender roles. They just work together as a team. There are cases when she'll go out to chop some wood, and he'll cook or feed the baby, but usually people just pull together for the common good of their families.

  6. I have had clothes destroyed by extreme cold, where it cracked where it was hung. So it can happen. That's why I was quite surprised to see her fold them - we would have to very carefully lifting them up and then inside the house wait until they've thawed a bit before hanging them again.

  8. They'll take it in, let it thaw for a few minutes until the fabric is soft and maleable, and then they'll hang it up to dry completely. It makes the house smell fresh!

  24. It's not sad, and it's not gross either. But you know what is!? Having absolutely no idea of things outside our bubbles. For example - in that temperature you wouldn't know if you smelled the natural scent of a human being or one of a decomposing body, please let that sink in. 😂🙏

I'm a water baby, could easily spend hours in a pond, but the rest applies! 😂❤I love cold climates, vety small communities where people know and support each other, natural mud houses, growing own organic food and eating intuitively and seasonally. Not stressing about a thing, not socialising if I don't want to, no social media beyond my business. Bliss! xx

  26. I grew up without running water. We still washed daily. Life slows down without modern amenities. If you've got a woodburning stove, family life revolves around it. It's a lifestyle for many of us wanting to go back to simplicity, but these folk know nothing else, so for them it's life itself.

  34. I can assure you that they're not playing a role. They are excellent team players though. So, for your understanding, if the baby needs feeding, laundry needs hanging, and the kids need breakfast prepared for school, than he is doing it, without reminding her of it, or keeping a count. Pettiness, misogyny is not a prerequisite here. Where abuse happens, people acknowledge it as such.
