  4. Yes, this video was shallow and did not reflect how much the influence of tech has had on the city, Blanding it down, and pricing it up and forcing the people who made it what it was to move. Of course, COVID has changed everything. More people are leaving, and the rents in some places seem to be going down a little. Diamond Dave, the "mayor of Haight street" is the real deal. For decades he has been ubiquitous, showing up at everything political, at poetry events, at everything counter-cultural.from grateful dead happenings to punk shows, Food not Bombs, ad Occupy, well into old age. He was known for his storytelling, his reciting of his poetry that he created, and his general talkativeness. sadly, he is in his eighties, and has become disabled and does not make it out that often. The problems of homelessness have become worse during the pandemic because lots of people have been suddenly pushed out of homeless shelters and let out of jails and prisons with no place to go. And, with so many places closed town or operating at minimum capacity, a lot of the stuff that was available here no longer is. But at least it seems to have halted gentrification, though it has not yet reversed it.
