So that's how my uncle, who was a naval engineer working for the main Basque shipyard, Euskalduna, lost his job: while Korea heavily subsidized their industry, here the slogan was exactly the opposite: dismantle state industry... Now we're little more than a tourist destination. Sad.

@OmmerSyssel - No. It's only "positive" if you want an unreal economy based on masses of foreign tourists who steal our space and homes. If instead of a real city you want a postcard and a postmodern postcard and not a traditional one of workers, be them farmers, fishers or shipwrights. We don't have a substance anymore, we have been emptied, and once the North Europeans lose all their remaining economic privileges (which they are losing right now at very fast pace), we will be left with nearly nobody to cater to. Tourism sucks. We need industry back, else this city makes no sense and the economy is weak, colonial, meaningless.
