@AnjaliApta-qt1iw Their unions are big part of the reason they can't compete anymore, why these jobs should be secured somehow if the company can't compete? Cut the wages 50% and the company has a chance of keeping factories in Germany.

You think that will fix their productions costs being 2 times or more than in other places? Germany won't recover before the unions will lose much of their power, their wages aren't realistic anymore.

so it's always the business owners fault, but not the employees and their unions earning double than in competing countries?

@rodclaude-s9f I'm only saying it, because it's the same story all the time and I care about these countries in the long run. The stronger the unions, the weaker the economy and you end with growth and debt levels like in Italy, Greece etc. Unions are comparatively weaker in US, they have practically no unemployment problem and a lot higher GDP growth than Germany. If US was faced with the same issue, the companies might still go bankrupt but the fired workers would find other work in some other more competitive business.

@AnjaliApta-qt1iw Why should the workers suffer if their employer can't compete? That is really the question? Because obviously a company that can't compete will not be able to pay wages and the workers will suffer whether you think they should or not. Also, the unions and wages of the workers are a major part of the reason the company can't compete anymore.

@gnewgnew2011 yes, poorly managed business deserves to go bust, but even if you don't pay their bailout from taxes, you will be paying for the social security of the workers that lost their jobs at least until they find new ones.

@Janez-h1e I didn't ask the question, I was quoting someone else. And the reason the workers should suffer with everyone else in the company: Because the workers are part of the company obviously. They aren't just some outsider whose wages have no effect on the competitiveness of the company. If the company can't compete it's not only because the management has failed, but also because the workers and their unions have demanded and earned unrealistic wages for years.

@azul8811 What does that matter?
1
@azul8811 who said they matter? You only have dumb questions?
1
@azul8811 Nobody said you made any declarative statements. You also didn't answer my question.
1
@azul8811 Your question was off topic and doesn't warrant a response. That much should be obvious by now.

@azul8811 Why do your posts matter? That question itself implies that my posts matter 🤦🏼♂
