@bakters Stalin attacked Poland at the same time and enslaved it for 50 years, performing attrocities like the katyn forest massacre I'd say that proves that WWII had nothing to do with protecting Poland Germany made repeated attempts to avoid war with the British empire, none of which were reported in the media Similarly, none of Stalin's attrocities were reported either, he was called uncle Joe In fact the katyn forest massacre was blamed on Germany for decades, despite it being well known that it was Stalins doing

Why did he no also make a film on the millions killed by Stalin? Because he would have been thrown in a gulag
6
@bakters don't think Germany had any interest in western Europe to tell you the truth, until France and the UK declared war on them The last thing they wanted was another two front war The east is obviously different though, Hitler had a beef with Stalin obviously
6
@norbitcleaverhook5040 they were greeted as liberators because of the horrors committed by Stalin To not mention this makes it propaganda
5
How come you didn't rise up against stalin?
5
@norbitcleaverhook5040 If he made such a film, nothing would have happened to him If he made a film about the tens of millions of Russians killed by Stalin he would have been gulagged or executed
4
@norbitcleaverhook5040 I've seen the film - it's not only good, it's artistically brilliant However, at any point in that film, would a viewer be aware that the Russians were fighting for a Georgian psycopath who had murdered tens of millions of Russians and sent millions more to the gulags? Would a viewer be aware that those very same villages were conquered and ravaged by Stalin and that they originally celebrated the arrival of the Germans as liberators? Do you not think these are perhaps important points?
3
@norbitcleaverhook5040 you find the fact that those very same villages were massacred by Stalin to be completely unimportant?
3
Belarus was occupied by Stalin
3
@bakters nice, we don't hear much about it for some reason I think it's perhaps because we like to think we saved Europe from tyranny
3
@norbitcleaverhook5040 Well it's propaganda then, and if the director had tried to tell more of the truth you would neve have heard of him again
2
@MrEd8846 yeah, I admit they committed attrocities and am no fan of them Just find it interesting that we collectively choose to forget that these very same villages were devasted by Stalin pre-war Many of these USSR countries greeted the Germans as liberators at first But I'm no fan of Hitler or the SS, don't worry about that
2
@Warszawski_Modernizm Fascinating to hear about - this is never mentioned in the West We grew up believing we had saved Poland and the rest of Europe from tyranny
2
@ronmaximilian6953 so why did France and England not declare war on the USSR? It invaded Poland at the same time as Germany
2
You talking about stalin?
2
More like propaganda than autobiographical The Germans were greeted as liberators when they entered countries invaded by Stalin
1
@norbitcleaverhook5040 No, I'm saying Stalin killed tens of millions of his own people and the Germans were originally welcomed as liberators
1
@doctoroctopus2620 I know the part where we allied with stalin and helped him enslave half of Europe, including Poland And then how we pretended it was a victory for freedom Off you go now, get back to Saving Private Ryan
1
It was a movie
1
@MrEd8846 fair enough, I just have a bee in my bonnet We allied with a psychopath, gave him half of Europe, and called it a victory for democracy Meanwhile we still seem obsessed with Hitler and SS attrocities, while Stalin's acts continue to be swept under the rug
1
@ronmaximilian6953 so we started the war to save Poland, and ended the war by giving Poland to a psychopath along with half of the rest of Europe?
1
@duongngole4785 Stalin killed tens of millions of people before the war even started
1
@duongngole4785 not sure what you're trying to say, either way, we allied with a psychopath and gave him half of Europe
